Why can’t I make an advance payment if I have pending dues?

Why can’t I make an advance payment if I have pending dues?

Advance payments are meant for future charges. If you have pending dues, you’ll need to clear them first before making an advance payment.

Why is this restriction in place?
The system follows a FIFO (First In, First Out) method, where payments are applied to the oldest invoice first. This can affect how your payment gets allocated.

What happens if I try to pay in advance with pending dues?
Your payment will go toward older dues instead of the charges you intended to pay, which may leave newer invoices unpaid and lead to late payment charges.

Here is a quick example.

  • January invoice (Special Project): ₹10,000 (pending)

  • February invoices:

    • Maintenance: ₹3,000

    • Sinking Fund: ₹3,000

If you pay ₹8,000 as an advance, it will be applied to the January invoice first.
This leaves ₹2,000 still pending for January, while February dues remain unpaid and may attract late fees.

How does this restriction help me?
It ensures your payments are applied correctly, avoids confusion in allocation, and helps prevent unintended late payment charges on newer invoices.
